Random blog

Well, I haven't written anything since Monday so I figure I'd write something short. Well, I didn't go to that presentation that man I met told me about. I felt bad because I told him I was going to go and then I didn't show up, call, pick up his call, or return it. However, I got an ill-feeling about it...I went with my gut and my gut told me it was probably a scam and I was going to lose my time. Your gut is usually right (follow it)....and I didn't want to lose my time because that is one of the most valuable things to me.

Anyway, I was also probably heavily influenced by the fact that Tuesday I was playing soccer and having so much fun. Oh yeah, btw, anyone who knows me knows I'm a big soccer freak too. This blog would have been called Soccer World if I had started it earlier before I was so heavily involved with salsa and not so much with soccer right now. Well I had been nursing an ankle injury for about a month and I finally made it out to the pitch on Tuesday...it was awesome. The weather could not have been better and I felt great. I scored 4-5 goals and I had so much fun.

Well, that's all. It nevers seems that I can only post one or two sentences. Even my "short" post are long, he he he.

Barnes and Noble

Well, I just got back from Barnes and Nobles. I decided to go buy some books I had been wanting to read. They are :

1. Angels and Demons by Dan Brown
2. The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown
3. How To...Make Love Like a Pornstar : A Cautionary Tale by Jenna Jameson

Anyway, I was wearing one of my salsa T-shirts. It says "Salseros like it quick, quick, slow..." when a guys noticed it. He asked me where I was from 'cause I guess he thought I was Puerto Rican. Turns out he is. Well we got to talking and he gave me his business card. I'm going to check out a presentation his company (web marketing) is putting together. Possibility of getting additional income for month but I won't get my hopes up. Might be too good to be true.

Anyway, that's all. I thought it was funny.

post-Vegas

Well, Vegas was a lot of fun. It was definitely nice having Reyna and my sis there. They kept each other company while I was in training. Funny thing about women...they were supposed to go walking down the strip and check out the hotels but what did they do both those days when I was in training? That's right....SHOPPING!

Anyways, they had fun doing it. Thursday we had dinner at Cafe Ba-Ba-Ree-Ba. It is a Spanish Tapa's restaurant. The food and sangria were good. They have a "house" band called Zoef. They are awesome...they are advertised as...Zoef...from the Gypsy Kings family. We were supposed to catch Splash at the Riviera that night but the show was cancelled, so Mitch's parents (nicest people in the world) took us to downtown Vegas (the old strip). It was a fun place...they had live bands and the biggest screen in the world...4 city blocks big.

Friday night we watched Cirque de Soleil's Mystere. It was awesome. Highly recommend it but if you do, get tickets toward the back...not only are they cheaper but you can see everything going on. We then went salsa dancing (come on did you forget the title of this blog?) at the Gold Coast Casino where a band called Latin Breeze was playing. The scene was pretty good. Reyna got plenty of dancing in and got her salsa fix.

Saturday we went to eat dinner at The Hard Rock Cafe and then caught Splash at the Riviera. The show was good...it was a variety type show. It had topless girls, song and dance, comedy duo and jugglers from Mexico (represent!). After that we finally hit the hotels up and took pictures in Vegas. While walking through Ceaser's Palace we encountered a bar area that had a live band that was playing some latin jazz / salsa. So you can guess what happened...that's right Reyna and I did some dancing. Got our salsa for that night too. I got some good shots that I might eventually post when I get the hang off it.

Well that's it for Vegas. We caught the 7:30 AM flight back. Reyna and I stopped for some Greek food on the way back home and then crashed for a couple hours in the afternoon since we didn't get too much sleep Saturday night. Having to go back to work was not cool but I am able to get back on my nutirition and workout shedule.

That's all.

Dallas Re-cap

Well, Dallas was fun. Our Friday performance was all right...not our best. We performed at Stratos which is like a bar/nightclub that offers Greek food. The dance floor was pretty small and with the spectators inching in to see, the area we had to perform was very tight. I bumped into Lauren more than once but we kept our cool and nobody fell (Thank God). Social dancing was good....eventhough the dance floor was small and the place was pretty packed it seemed that people staggered the times they went up to dance and the floor was never too packed to dance. Of course the night did not end until ~4:45am when we all finally went to bed.

My teammates left me all alone on Saturday (punks) but they did take me to breakfast at Denny's before they left...so I still have nothing but love for you guys. Anyways, I was stranded waiting at the hotel until my girlfriend, Reyna, got there and saved me :-). She did not travel to Dallas until Saturday morning since she had prior commitments and therefore traveled with her team, SWAT (Salsa With Attitude & Timing). So SWAT and SalsaEddy Project got in Saturday since that was the night they were scheduled to perform. We all hung out and went to eat dinner at On the Border (Beltline Dr). Everyone then went back to the hotel and got ready to go to a different club to perform, 5th Avenue.

The performances were all good. The Project rocked it again and got another standing ovation. SWAT had a clean routine and did great. I wanted to dance so badly that night and there was plenty of girls to dance with. In fact, there was too many people there and the floor was too packed. People resorted to dance on the carpet around the floor but even that real estate got crowded very quickly. I think 5th Avenue is the happening Salsa club in Dallas on Saturdays and therefore it was very packed. That was my only issue because I don't like dancing with new girls when its that packed because I don't do good. Afterwards we split from the group who wanted to go to IHOP but we couldn't even find a place to park. So we headed to Denny's and ran in to Angel, Jessica and the rest of the San Antonio salseros. Again, the night ended around 4-5 am.

All in all, the weekend was good. We all got back safe t0 Houston. Want to thank Benito for picking me up at the airport. U my dog! Thanks to Mark for letting us ride back with him to Houston and not leaving us stranded in Dallas or having to throw our thumbs in the air.

Well the next trip is to the Vegas Strip. Work is footing the bill since I am going to an EPA seminar, Talk about a boondoggle :-). Anyway, they are only paying for the hotel (Harrah's) the days I am there for work. The other two days comes out of yours truly's pocket so we going to Motel 6 for that. Anyway, Reyna and Vanessa (my sis) are coming with so it should be a fun trip. I am looking forward to watch a show or two. And I guess I can play the nickel slots...I am not big on gambling but I guess it's a sin to go to Vegas and not gamble at all.

Anyway, that's all for now.

Dallas....

Well, this will be a short post since I'm in the office..so I cannot waste too much time online. Today I will be flying out to Dallas to perform tonight at the 2nd Annual Salsa del Barrio - Dallas. Instead of our usual 3 couples we will only have two since Domenica (my partner) and Luis (Krystal's partner) can't go. So I will be dancing with Krystal which will be weird since we are not used to each other but we'll do just fine. I'll be happy to get my performance out of the way tonight that way the rest of the weekend I can just relax and have fun social dancing. I'll post something when I return about how the weekend went.

Laters,

First post

Well, I stumbled upon this whole blog thing when checking back on Reunion.com trying to contact some old high school buddies. I went to the site and found that my old friend Aldo King had a website on his profile. I went to it and found this blog thing-a-majig. I then saw that Matt Dentler and Jason Puckett (old high school acquaintances) had their own blog as well. So I wanted to post a comment to Aldo to let him know I was trying to reach him and got a message that in order for me to post I had to register so I said...What the heck?. So I decided to start my blog about the world of salsa dancing which is just opening up to me. That's ll for now....
